Review Album: Let The Truth Be Told - Laura Izibor

Laura Izibor meski masih berusia 22 tahun, bukanlah orang baru dalam kancah musik international. Alunan suaranya pernah mengisi soundtrack dari serial Grey’s Anatomy, Ghost Whisperer, serta film seperti Nanny Diaries, Step Up 2, Seven Pounds dan P.S. I Love You. Laura juga pernah menjadi artis pembuka untuk konser Aretha Franklin, Estelle dan John Legend. Cukup mengesankan bukan? Sepintas memang aroma Laura Izibor mengingatkan pada Alicia Keys, dengan timbre yang sedikit mirip. Apalagi keduanya sama-sama pemain piano. Tetapi Laura memang lebih kental dengan Soul ketimbang Alicia. Meski telah merilis single seperti ‘From My Heart to Yours’ dan ‘Mmm…’ di tahun 2008, Laura sendiri baru merilis debut albumnya bulan Mei ini. Dan kedua komposisi tersebut juga dimasukan dalam album perdanannya ini. Album ini sendiri memakan proses selama 4 tahun. Laura mulai mengerjakan albumnya sejak ia berusia 17 tahun. Rekamannya sendiri berlangsung di 4 kota, New York, Philadelphia, Atlanta, dan Dublin. Dibuka dengan ‘Shine’ sebagai komposisi intro yang bernuansa ceria. Tembang ini cocok untuk kita membangkitkan semangat kita dalam memulai hari. Perhatikan liriknya yang indah. Well let the sun shine on your face. And don’t let your life go to waste Now is the time, got to make up your mind Let it shine on you, let it shine on you Album perdana Laura ini sangat kental dengan nuansa soul pop dan sedikit jazzy serta bluesy. Komposisi ‘Don’t Stay’ yang rencananya menjadi single kedua setelah ‘Shine’ juga memiliki lirik yang dalam didukung dengan komposisi melodi yang mid tempo dalam beat dengan iringan organ. Tembang ‘Don’t Stay’ ini seakan ingin mendeklarasikan kemandirian seorang wanita dalam hal cinta. Hampir semua lagu di album ini saya favoritkan. Saya jatuh cinta pada pendengaran pertama dengan Laura Izibor sejak pertama kali mendengarkan lantunan suaranya di radio. Laura memiliki koleksi komposisi yang beragam dari slow, mid tempo hingga up beat, membuat album ini terasa begitu dinamis untuk didengarkan. Dengan lirik-lirik cinta yang bittersweet membuat album ini terasa begitu istimewa. Hal ini disebabkan Laura sendiri yang turun tangan menciptakan dan membantu memproduseri semua komposisi itu.
